2024 is our 70th year as a historical society!!!!
We were "born" in 1954. And as if that weren't enough, our museum has been our home for now 60 years!! (1964-2024) Our museum is known as the Old Jail Museum, built in 1906.
Located in downtown Allegan, this museum was the Allegan County jail and sheriff's residence from 1906-1963. We have over 10,000 Allegan County artifacts that will give you a glimpse into the county's past. We also have a historical village at the Allegan County Fair, consisting of 15 various historical buildings and activities.
