The Allegan County Historical Society
The Allegan County Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the history of Allegan County and the vicinity by encouraging historical research and study. We believe in an understanding and appreciation of our historic heritage which is essential to maintaining a unique and meaningful identity as a community.
The society collects and preserves historical material connected with Allegan County and houses them at the Allegan Old Jail Museum, and John Pahl Historical Village, both located in Allegan.
The society consists of a board of directors, several committees, volunteers, and hundreds of members nation wide. The society hosts several fun and educational events yearly, as well as helps to research and document the history of Allegan County. We are a volunteer run society.
If you are interested in joining the Allegan County Historical Society stop by the Allegan Old Jail Museum during business hours - May through August: Friday and Saturday 10am-4pm; Sept. through April: Saturday 10am-4pm, or give us a call at 269-673-8292.
The annual cost for membership is $15.00 per person or $20.00 for the whole family. Annual renewal for all members. A new family membership receives two books along with the membership.
